Amy Hunt

Amy Hunt is the founder of The Hunt Group DC, a strategic advisory firm operating at the intersection of federal public policy and finance. With a sharp understanding of how regulatory decisions shape markets, she advises clients on navigating complex policy environments, unlocking opportunity, and managing risk in Washington's evolving landscape. Known for clear thinking and pragmatic insight, she brings a grounded, real-world approach to an often opaque environment.
Amy brings decades of experience across the public and private sectors. Amy retired from Goldman Sachs where she served as Managing Director in the Office of Government Affairs. In that role she represented the firm before the United States Congress and the Administration on a broad range of policy issues. She joined the firm in 2013 as a vice president and was elevated to managing director in 2021.

Before Goldman Sachs, Amy served as counsel to US Senator Tom Carper (D-DE), where she was the senator's principal advisor on economic policy. In that role, she played an active part in shaping landmark legislation — including the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the Credit CARD Act — helping negotiate key provisions of both bills. She also advised on corporate governance matters before the Securities and Exchange Commission and Congress on behalf of the State of Delaware and its business community.
Earlier in her career, Amy served as Chief of Staff for the Government and Industry Relations department at Fannie Mae in Washington, DC, overseeing all policy, political, and administrative functions for the department and directing the Fannie Mae Political Action Committee. She began her professional career as an associate attorney at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP, where she practiced white-collar criminal defense and public law and policy, representing individuals and corporations in federal criminal matters before the Department of Justice, Congress, and Independent Counsel. She was a recipient of the Akin Gump Pro Bono Award for her contributions to the firm's pro bono program.
Amy holds a BA in International Studies from Emory University and a JD from the Catholic University of America. She is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
